This weekend my hosts have taken me to their second home, on the North Shore of the beautiful Lake Tahoe.
Lake Tahoe is in two states- Cali and Nevada. The Nevadan side suffers from gambling.
We travelled to the North- Dollar Point. It is about a 2-hour drive from Sacramento. They have a wonderful alpine style cabin although don't be fooled- it is ginormous.

... Just across the state line, with Harrah’s Hotel/Casino to our left and Harvey’s to our right, we enter California and arrive at tonight’s destination in South Lake Tahoe. It’s the end of a 250-mile ride that began in gold rush country, brought us over Kit Carson Pass, and evoked memories from a half-century ago.

... up meeting up with them that night at Harrah's. I'm probably the only one who was so fascinated by this, but the Lake Tahoe Boulevard connects Nevada and California. ... edge of a ridge with steep cliffs down to water on both sides! It was also quite icy so when we got to Emerald Cove we decided to stop to see what we could see. What a view, very Queenstownesque. We walked the one mile down to the cove (watching all the moaning and complaining families coming up!!!) and then the one mile back up (hopefully not looking as bad as the other families!) We returned to the resort freshened up and waited at the resort lobby for a shuttle bus to pick us up to take us to the MS Dixie for the evening. We used the $100.00 gift card towards the ticket.
