A weekend in Paradise

... splashed about twice (!) They also offered us some beer, again, I declined… sorry sarah.

The Caye itself is TINY! It taking literally 5 mins to walk all the way around, and is composed of a few different resorts all of which offer full board accommodation. There are also two bars, two rival (an ex couple) snorkelling guides, and a Diving instructor.. We had arrived unfortunately late for lunch at our place 'Tobacco Caye ...

Day 2

... in there because a patient was lovely and kind of forced me on her!!! I stood in the corner for an hour or so until she ran out of patients and I escaped (!) one great thing though was when she conducted a consultation in Spanish and I realised that I understand more medical Spanish than general conversational Spanish (the SSC was deffo worth it!). The interesting thing about clinic is that so much is similar (the conditions seen ...

Nature madness!

... old fashioned frame of mind, and it was really interesting to hear his perspective on everything which was slightly different than the guide books. This morning we woke up and took the taxi into the park. we hit the trail out to a waterfall and swimhole. we were in for quite the suprise when we started hiking and it was pretty much all uphill, lol but we managed to survive especially with the enticing reward at the end. the water was amazingly cool ...

... were able to find a ride that late in the afternoon. It's easier to get into the island than getting off the island. We won't have enough time to make it to Caye Caulker tonight but at least we could head out first thing in the morning on a local bus to Belize City. We were introduced to Val's Backpacker Hostel by some people in the boat. Val is a very nice lady who did our laundry in an hour and had fast ...

... this was one of the few times I hadn't asked how much it would cost and was pretty much rendered speechless when he said $20! Felt like quite the rip-off but at this point what choice did I have? Between Greg and the cab driver I was getting that feeling that you sometimes get as a traveler that you are viewed as little more than a walking ATM. Not a good feeling. Anyway, I chose a hike ...

Back in the civilized messaging world again!

... the massive reef were I saw more rays,, morray eels, a big lobster but unfortunately no turtles as we were almost promised. The time of the island was about 7 to 10 thirty mostly doing nothing much every day. I liked it a lot. Now I've just had load of laundry washed and I need to catch a bus to Belmopan and on to Cayo by the Guatemala-Border. More news soon, b.

Sailing in the Caribbean - Part II

... marshmallows round the beach fire so it was the crew, Sarah, Wendy, Josh, Taylor, Gareth and I as well as the three teenage boys left rocking the boat. Those onshore enjoyed the entertainment we all provided back on the boat. A night on the rum punch certainly makes camping so much easier, I could have slept anywhere. Looking at the amount of sand in the tent it wouldn't have made any difference if I just passed out on the beach. Needless to say 90% of the boat awoke feeling very ...

I was towing a broken down bus into Belize City with Pastor Jim when he got a cell call. Apparantly, Casey came in after working ******* the TreeHouse Club and asked Jenny when the electricity was ...

... very vivid. There are quite large fish swimming around and it is safe to swim in it. We, well Mike also went around the Hummingbird trail, a one mile walk through the jungle. Apart from lots of more usual birds he did manage to spot a couple of King Vultures having a feed. He also saw what looked like a coral snake, one of the deadly snakes. On checking on return we found out it was a harmless snake although still with the same colour bands, just in a different order
