... though rain is on the way - probably tonight when we are en-route to the bus station with our bags. Jai exchanges our lottery winnings and finds money at a slightly better rate than I got last night so maybe things are moving in the right direction for achange. Wego to our favourite noodle shop to eat but find it closed so settle for a 7/11 coffee back to the room and we will eat later.

Laos was definitely the hardest country so far to learn even a modicum of the language. The alphabet may as well have been 'Romulan’ (any Star Trek fans out there??) and more importantly the pronunciation was the most challenging so far with tone playing a critical role in expressing not only mood but also meaning.

The journey was well worth the rush; trailing it's passengers through the heart of Khao Yai National Park, the scenery was truly breathtaking. Corn fields and picturesque, tiny, wooden train stations with rockery and water features became the norm while Buddha towered over the top of the many limestone rock formations that straddled either side of the coach.
