    ... a sow with 2 one-year old cubs. They did not get very close, but it was still exciting. Just ahead of them was another grizzly and then there was a fifth one across the road. Our guide said it is pretty rare to see 5 of them within a mile of each other. A little bit later we saw Dall sheep high up on a mountain and a bull caribou.     ... Everest is 14,000 ft above sea level). Mc Linley Mt is also called Mt Denali meaning the "high one" in the indigenous language. Denali village is a small settlement but is the starting point for lots of tours..helicopter and plane flights into the mountains, rafting the rivers, hiking, wilderness tours etc. Given the weather I was sorry I hadn't booked in to a flight around Mt McKinley but I wasn't to know that we would be here on the most perfect day.     our way to Denali. At over 20,000 feet, the mountain is usually shrouded in clouds, so we felt very fortunate, today, that the top was clear and we were able to see it. Not sure if the same was true for those on the ground as we of course were above the clouds.

    ... it was looking good and we took a few minutes to run up to Hatcher pass. The road to the pass was closed because of the snow still on the ground. We got to see a gold mining camp and the mountains and the river were beautiful as always. There was an immature female moose along the side of the road on the way back.
