italiano: Dopo aver visto la foto abbiamo verificato che i nostri sospetti
erano fondati.

After bundling all up to head out to the glacier ( i looked like i was ready to go play in the snow in michigan, grrr) climbed 700 steps of stairs we finally reached the mammoth glacier the is the size of Christchurch. It will blow your mind away, you ...

Go Big or Go Home

... Whistler.

The much hyped QUEENSTOWN was up next and this is where we are currently writing to you all from! On the first day 10 of us on the bus signed up for the Nevis Bungy - 134 metres! To put this into perspective for Winnipeggers it is higher than the Ric******* building on Portage and Main which sits at 124 metres. The big day finally arrived and a bunch of us all met at the station to catch our bus to the Nevis jump. We all climbed into this bus for a 45 minute drive to the ...

On the road in NZ

Greeting my peeps,

Quite a while since last blog, still in the land of "Fush and Chups" and other such speech nonsense, currently in Queenstown with the McClelland but might save QT for the next entry as there's a fair amount to cover but i'll play it by ear, fair nuff? Sweet.

OK, so we left Auckland to head for Rotorua, which is a town built on a geo-thermal hot spot, therefore much of the power, heating etc comes from the natural heat from the ...

Outside of the rainforest, it rains less

... I equate with New Zealand. But rainforest it has, along with millions and millions of ferns! Ferns were all I could see for a good part of the morning, lining the roads we were driving on. A couple times the driver would say something like "and there in front of us is Mount Cook, but of course you're not going to see that today, with all this rain. Bummer." It was a bit of a ...

First day in Queenstown

... stayed at for more than an hour and a half. We didn't even make it into the maze as we sat down in the cafe to do some of the puzzles they had out and were utterly stumped.

Back on the bus and onwards to Queenstown. We stop about 20minutes or so outside the town where we are shown the first ever commercial bungy jump site at Kawarau River which was set up after two ...

Bungee Thrillogy in Queenstown.

So I've just doen 3 bungee jumps in the past 24 hrs. Last night: The Ledge bungee - you have to get a gondola up a cliff face to get to it. 47m in the dark into the mist.

Then the Kawarau bridge this morning - the original and first commercial bungee site. 43m over water.

Then this afternoon - the big one. Nevis bungee - 137m from a cable car into a canyon. Sweet as!

The Search For Food

... Japaneses, Chinese, Thai, Indian, Korean.  Indian won out due to a 2for1 Curry special.  Made out pretty well with Rogan Josh, Chicken Korma, a couple special Naans and a nicely spiced Chai tee (figured it to be ginger that gave it that special kick).

Queenstown- the end of an era

Queenstown marked the near end of our trip and a chance for everyone to do their own thing for however long they were staying for. We decided to stay 4 nights as we'd heard that Queenstown was well worth the visit and it didn't disappoint. Unfortunately the shops were far from inadequate and us girls spent the day maxing out our cards on a bit of retail therapy. You always need new clothes travelling- a chance to update your bag of skanky, dirty gear ...

Shopping... Shopping... SHOPPING!!!

... there is a deer farm that allows visitors to get up close and personal with some of the animals. The entry fee is minor and then you get to drive around a working deer farm, which in addition to deer also has animals like goats, donkeys, llamas and alpacas. All of these animals roam freely around (some seperated from each other by a fence to prevent fighting) and graze the hillsides. Going to this area is at your own risk as a sign at the entrance told us ...
