... felt the altitude when we climbed a few times. Dirt path wove through pine trees and rocks & wasn't too crowded. We went maybe around 3-4 miles total (trail is out & back, over 8 miles, one way).

Took a side trail to see tiny, wooden lighthouse - actually a replica. Looked about the size of an outhouse. Near by, we're pretty sure we saw 2 eagles. One was perched in a tree top overlooking a large nest at top of a tree near bird. ...

After an action packed week we a well-deserved day at the beach was in order. After the ubiquitous Pykett smoothie to get the day started we drove around the lake to Sand Harbor. With its very large houses leading to private beaches ...

... little weary after being apart for so long. It's hard to describe, but when you spend so much time together, as a family, at the far ends of the world, it just feels wrong to be apart. We were a team for so long, through some of the strangest and most wonderful places, and now we were finally back together. It was a great feeling and it was long overdue. And, most importantly, we'd be together to face our reintegration into the "real world." Oddly enough, we were simply not ready for that world.

... VISTA would have to be good enough. And there it was, signs to Castle Rock. Just a short scramble up a steep incline and I was certain that a VISTA would unfold. Good enough, lunch and a little chat with some fellow hikers. Yes, by now I suppose it is right to refer to it as a hike. Lake Tahoe is the second largest Alpine Lake. I have had this information shared by numerous fellow travelers, though from the Americas. None have been able to answer exactly what Alpine ...
