... stop! It turns out that we were driving along side the Kenai and Russian Rivers where the salmon were running. People up here are crazy about fishing. On the Russian River there is what is called, combat fishing. People line up next to each other and fish for the running salmon. It's quite a sight.

We finally arrived at Soldotna where we checked out a kennel for Chaco for the time we will be at Lake Clark National Park. ...

The next morning we rose early at Deep Creek State Park to head back up to Soldotna for a salmon trip on the Kenai River. Our departure coincided with the arrival of the charter fishing boats that launch from the beach at Deep Creek. It is an interesting process. ... a baby salmon with his fly which was funny because it gave him a little fight.

We were MUCH happier after catching several fish and though we released them, we were satisfied to know that it wasn't personal and these fish really do like us...kidding.

We headed back home to Anchorage...gotta get back to life. BUT it's not over between us and the silvers...we'll be back!
