... an.other private safari. We left at 01:00 and drove north again to the southern shore of Lake Inari. The skies were clear and stars can be seen in the skies. Most of us did not see any Northern lights but one camera man with the help of the guide seem to have captured something with his camera. I will try and get a copy of the image and post it when he forward it to me.

... towards Ivalo, our driver/guide, who is a Sami, pointed out a shriek of light in the horizon above the Ivalo night sky and said that that was a possible Aurora, but it went away almost immediately and no one else in our group saw it. Did I managed to see the northern lights? Not sure.
The night was overcast, so there was nothing much to see in the skies. Not even stars.
The driver took us all the way to the Russian border before returning.

But we did have a fun time. We drove up about 45 min from here and up a mountain overlooking Inari and built a fire. We had coffee, tried some Finnish sausage heated over the open firs (snow around us was at least 1.5 ...

... it's too much like roast (which he doesn't much care for). I loved it. Paul had white fish (which is what he had for lunch)--I think he really wants to get into the local food culture.

We're planning on a morning cross country skiing jaunt and back in time to shower and check out. We're expected at the glass igloo tomorrow afternoon! http://www.kakslauttanen.fi

          Good night and until tomorrow.

... someone ran into the bar and yelled out "Aroura Borellis, the Aroura, quick!" So we all dropped everything and there was a stampede to get out the door! It was very faint but you could see the same green haze as we'd seen earlier. I was hoping it would be more intense, but it was still very cool to see.

When we had finished our drink we headed back to the cabin, lit the fire and lay on the couch. What a night! We fell asleep as soon as our heads hit the ...
