We are still putting our car wipers on instead of indicators. We have the cleanest windscreen and the worst indicator record in North Island. Although we have been here before, can't fail to be impressed with the size of this lake. It is 40 kilometres long and 30 kilometres wide with its deepest point some 186 metres. We took a boat trip on the lake with one of the features was a viewing of Maori ...

Emily was able to navigate us Back to the car- which even though I drove I had forgotten how to find- and we drove a bit further to get to a walking path just on the edge of taupo town. Day 16

After a late arrival in Wellington last night we opted for a quiet day today. Our campsite was based in Lower Hutt approximately 12 Km from Wellington Centre. It was also conveniently located next door to a huge soft play centre which is where Chloe enjoyed her morning having a richly deserved bit of playtime. A bit of campervan maintenance (a broken waste pipe requiring a trip to the garage) meant that I was late to the party at ...

... it look like it would improve. We took off our jump suits and harnesses and would ring several more times during our stay in Taupo to try to reconstitute the jump, but cloud set in and refused stubbornly to move for the next two days. Failure had been snatched from the jaws of triumph; instead of 60 seconds of freefall followed by a soaring parachute descent we had experienced the skydiving equivalent of leaves on the line. Whether I will ever recover ...
