    ... walk took about 2 hours (round trip) and followed the Waiheke river. There were some really lovely views and it was nice to have some extra company on the walk. We found out that the NZ kebabs are not a patch on those in Germany and that there were some hot pools you could use for free at the base of the trail (probably more useful).     We travelled to Rotorua next. This place stinks but its quite cool. It smells because there are lots of geothermal springs all over the place. Some people even have them in their gardens. They are formed by the weak areas in the earths crust realising gases and it heats up the water. They look like deep puddles, bubbling away and polluting the air with an eggy smell!     ... way towards Rotorua. We had a very pleasant glass of wine and watched the vast diversity of water sports on Lake Taupo. It is so big it looks like it could be the sea. Walked back to our site - mainly uphill and very hot!
