The dry suit that wasn't

... Johannes zips me into the suit. The zipper runs from the back of the upper arm, across the back and down the other shoulder to the other upper arm. The hood is next and I am zipped into it and finally the gloves which makes sure I can't move or do anything with my hands. I am very constrained and can hardly move! I am the Michelin man. I am able to breathe though so Johannes says it will do well. A lot of tugging and pulling by everyone to get into these suits.

Now that we are all ...

... the bed, and beautiful down comforter had my name written all over it. I slept until about 3pm. The weather here is unbelievable......beautiful. Probably in the low to mid 40's. After waking, showering, and exploring the hotel, I wondered off to catch my first bus. I went to the downtown area, which was about 10 min. away. I stopped at a little rest., and had a lunch consisting of a piece of white break with cream cheese, baby ...

On sea

... fixed menu description, it gives him the freedom to explore new and exciting things with every course he makes. From the way he talked about food and its preparation, it was easy to detect his genuine passion for preparing a good meal. Sensing our hunger and desire for a tasty dinner, Stig took away our menus and, with our consent, took it upon himself to decide what we should have. As a starter our tentative waiter ...

Day Four

... went to the grocery store the other day and everything is all natural, no MSG, no hormones etc. Love it here! After dinner we decided to go on an adventure. We drove back south to Grindavik then east on a dirt road for hours. It was pitch black and we were hoping to see the Aurora Borealis. Unfortunately, the sky was overcast and we missed it but we haven't given up. Today is our last day in Reykjavik as we are starting our ...

Some things about Iceland...

A couple of interesting things about life in Iceland: Swimming pools are open all year round (some 365 days a year) because they are all heated with cheap geothermal water. Satellite dishes point into the ground (about a 70 degree angle i think) They still have a 1 kronur coin even though all their prices are in hundreds and thousands - this means a really large and annoying ...

The Golden Circle Tour

... or stand downwind from it. Apparently there are a lot of people stupid enough to do that for him to have mentioned it, and he told us a few stories of those who have! But all around Stokkur and Geysir were hotpots and other holes with steam spewing out of them and water bubbling up. One even had a small model house built over it so it looked like the steam was coming out of the chimney! After Geysir we had lunch at a touristy place beside Gullfoss (the ...

Goodbye Iceland

... the kiosk waited then tried to check in. It didn't work! I asked for assistance and another lady said our ticket could not be used in the automated booth and that we had to go line up where we were before except now the line was half as long again and we were in danger of missing the flight. I saw a business class check in desk vacant and went and explained our situation, the ...

Off to Iceland....

... trip to the hot springs on Tuesday before our plane leaves. We WILL have fun, even if it costs us a fortune. It is quite beautiful here though, and strange enough, it is almost midnight and it looks like it is about 5pm Miami time. The sun is just starting to go down, and the sky is still filled with light. And it's MIDNIGHT? Anyways, we'll be closing the blinds tightly and trying to get some rest before the big day of touring tomorrow. Good night everyone!! Love, Andrea and Jose

WILL AND JUSTIN´S HITCHHIKING SCAVENGER HUNT

... drivers, "Ég heiti Justin. Hvað heitur þu - Magnús?" in a strange effort to guess their names. To convince people to say, "I love ice cream" in Icelandic, I told them long stories about my all-ice cream-diet: "Alla sem ég borða er rjómaís. Ég borða tveir litra af rjómaís ein dag og ég borða tveir litra næst dag og ég borða og ég borða og ég borða og ég borða BARA rjómaís!" This also got them laughing for between 2-3 seconds, but I needed to make people ...
