Lesoma Valley, Kasane Forest Reserve Chobe National Park, Botswana, +27-(11)-706-8781
We booked a safari in Botswana via our hosts in Livingstone - Jolly Boys Backpackers and opted for a 2 day and one night safari for $280 each, this included 2 river safaris, and a 4X4 land safari. After crossing the border into Botswana we were picked up by our host Elephant Valley Lodge and taken to a boat for the river safari. As we cruised up the River Chobe we saw up close the many hippos and crocodiles, and watched as the fish eagles glided down for their prey. I have to admit sitting on...
Kasane, Botswana domjonnaFrom Victoria Falls, we had a private transfer to Botswana, where we were met by one of the rangers at the Elephant Valley Lodge. The rain started and the rain never stopped from the moment we crossed the boarder. It was the wet season, so rain was expected, but they were having record book rainfall, just our luck :) Because of all the rain and the plentiful supply of water, the animals were scattered all over the park. The watering hole at our lodge was covered in grass. One of the guests, w...
Chobe National Park, Botswana heatherkassabThe first safari camp we stayed in was Elephant Valley Lodge, in tents in the middle of wildlife! The camp had its own waterhole where many different animals came to drink and often stayed for some time so we could enjoy watching. It was so fantastic that it was almost surreal; looking at these magnificent creatures that we previously only had seen on TV. Then we went on real safaris, with wonderful guides that could tell about everything we saw, from the tiniest insect to the majestic elepha...
Kasane, Botswana tengen... a corner the driver of our other truck called us back; they had spotted a baby leopard! We backed up quickly in time to see its little gray body moving quickly through the trees. Apparently a few days before the leopards had been eating when the lions came upon them suddenly, forcing the mother leopard and two little cubs into the tree above. When the lions were done with their feeding the ...
Chobe National Park, Botswana claraz8... so fast in sand. It was inevitable that the elephants would win any fight. Chris and I quietly whispered this realization to each other. I remember noticing at some point how a lot of the big elephants had broken tusks; perhaps from previous attempts on flipping Land Rovers?! We sat frozen for the entire 10+ minutes that it took for the herd to pass and when it was finally safe to continue we inched forward and then ...
Chobe National Park, Botswana amanda_schmelin... of personality clashes and people with limited tolerance thresholds on the first leg, which made for very draining personal interactions....that's the nicest way I can describe some of the things that went on!!
Once everyone returned from the Delta trip, and some also undertook a flight (one of the highlights of my last trip), we headed to Chobe National Park. Where we undertook a ...
... lucky and spoiled to even have such global internet access.
To cap off an epic day of wildlife viewing, we set off on a sunset boat cruise. We saw more crocs, elephants and hippos, but the lighting of the sun set, made it even prettier. Once again, we got quite close to the hippos, but since this time the boat was larger than them, I felt considerably safer :p!
Sam cooked a very spicy dinner for us and we all relaxed after a busily fulfilling day.
... schools (at least not mine) - and they are hard to find and expensive. Some of us had a conversation about that at lunch today. I asked if Amazon devilvers to Zambia????
We are heading to Botswana for safari. A pretty large group of us. It should be a lot of fun. We are going to Chobe, I think a National Park, in Botswana. I'll take lots of photos!
Have a nice weekend everyone!!
... turned around and low and behold the little jack russel we nicked named Flees was curled up on the bottom of Nats sleeping bag... we ****** ourselves laughing.. then kicked him out into the cold
We woke up early the next morning for a morning game drive in the Chobe National Park. It was a bit disappointing as we still have not seen that elusive Leopard ...
... we were watching, waiting. Then we realised that we were being watched in turn! Silently the Leopard lies under a tree - in striking distance!!!!! - watching us boringly, scratched his ear and rolled over on his back, playfull, apparently not hungry...
I quenched my thirst that in turn calmed my nerves, then the thirst again and so starts a vicious cirkel...
The next morning early, after a night of twitching and ...
