... Another of our pastimes is searching for pearls. Not in the sea, but in the stores. Although we were not able to visit any pearl farm, we went to four stores that have their own farms in the Tuamotu islands. Tahitian pearls are not only the typical black pearls but come in a wide range of shades, colors and shapes. Ariana would like to have a bracelet made. She draws a design and we spend nice time helping her ...

We love the fact that the girls in French Polynesia (and sometime boys too) have flowers as hair ornaments. Also, when you get to the island, they welcome you with a flower necklace or, if they are invited to a house, they offer flower crowns and necklaces to the hosts. John makes sure that her girls always have flowers, too. ...
