... long before that. It was added to many times from the 15th century to the 18th. Sadly it was badly damaged in a fire in 1800 that apparently burned for 14 days. It was again restored into what we see today.



Entry to the castle and St Martin's Chapel inside the walls costs €6 (but only €3.50 for the old git). ...

... mok there is a huge fork of lightning and almost instantaneous clap of thunder. We've been here before, and it's best to get under cover and wait it out. Fortunately there's a handy restaurant on the hill just above us and we move smartly inside for lunch and fruit tea.



In just a few miles we cross back into Slovakia. We are heading for the small town of Oravský Podzámok where we will visit ...

... Mom would have been so proud, taught me well. We had a 3 hour bus ride back because we hit traffic in the city. Just had enough time to shower and go to church. Since we hadn't eaten dinner we went to the Hard Rock Cafe in the square. It was fun and probably the most American thing you can do in krakow. I was most excited because they had Heinz ketchup! I haven't that in 2 whole weeks and Polands ketchup is like sugary tomato, not good. Last week of classes and finals coming ...

... Off we went. I had my usual spot, bringing up the rear! About 30 min. later, Sharon questioned whether we were on the correct trail and it was determined that we were on the red trail. Oops! This was a longer and harder trail, so we walked back almost 30 min. to get on the yellow.
