This morning I woke up as we were pulling into port in Monte Carlo, Monaco. It's by far the most beautiful place we’ve seen! The second smallest country in the world, Monaco is 2.5 miles long, and 900 meters wide. It has about 30,000 residents, and I think they are all incredibly wealthy. There are two harbors, and both are filled with what are likely the world’s most expensive yachts. Monaco just recently added a port for cruise ships, and ours looks like an eyesore compared ...

Woke up to miserable weather so decided to drive directly to France, unfortunately the rain and fog got worse as we travelled. Crossed the border into France and headed to a camp spot inland slightly, not far from Monaco as we plan to explore it tomorrow.

... something so beautiful. This is the best view. You see the mountains, cliffs, and then the bluest sea ever. Small house costs about 3 million euros. Saw Bono's property which is really a small island. I didn't want to leave. So incredible. Went to Fragonard Perfumery. Apparently I have a good sniffer cause I picked out every fragrance correctly. Bought some perfume that I love and will probably never be able to get again. Then we headed to lunch at a restaurant. Best meal I've had ...

... It was a good night. We bought beers and drank them by the beach in Nice. Sunday 11 August 2013 My last day in Nice. I tried not to think about it. It was a lovely hot day again. The smell of summer in the air. Cyril and Guilliame were moving over to Cyril's parents' place for a few weeks to house-sit and they had planned a BBQ lunch with loads of Cyril's family. Such a nice afternoon. Just chit chatting and drinking and eating and playing with the children, ...

Four different trains in one day

... the 1.5 hour trip to Pisa. Next train, after a 15 minute lay over in Pisa, took us to Genova. This leg took around 2.5 hours and again was uneventful but with a little extra comfort as we had first class seats for this trip. Nice little 6 seat cabin which we shared with only one other passenger for the trip.
The scenery on the leg from Pisa to Genova got better and better as the trip went on as it took us through La Spezia, the Cinque Terre, Santa ...
