Took our leave of Khama Rhino Reserve and made our way back to SA via Parrs Holt border post where we had a very easy transit, with exceptionally friendly and humorous customs officials on both sides. The road between Lephalale ( Elisrus) and Vaalwater was the most potholed one we have ever been on and looked like ...

... area of the reserve, we decided to go back to camp.

At our camp site we ate lunch and then had a very lazy afternoon. I had a refreshing cool shower, did some reading, had an afternoon nap and started drinking as the sunset. We were going to go for a walk or drive, but in the end we didn't.

Once again we all pitched in and made an amazing dinner. This evening it was us and again two other sites occupied. We spent the evening sitting under the ...

The live action of the helicopter rounding the Giraffe up and the excitement of the ground team chasing is not captured in the same way by the photos. Ah well, maybe I'll get them uploaded soon.

          Keep well peeps X

This morning we had a little bit of a sleep-in. After a quick coffee and biscuits we set off for a drive. We drove straight to the hides on the other side of the reserve. So we drove out of the gate and then entered again on the other side. Today started off as an overcast day. From the hides here we saw a large herd of Roan and a couple Common Reedbucks. Paul also identified quite a few birds that we did not see yesterday. We then ...

We have spent the past few days in Johannesburg with Paul's parents. For the rest of our leave we were visiting Nylsvley Nature Reserve for two nights and then off to Marakele GameReserve for two nights. We left early this morning, stopped along the way to buy food and a few other supplies. It took us a few hours to drive there.

Nylsvley Nature Reserve is not a big five game reserve. It consists of the Nyl River Floodplain, which is one of South ...
