... what this petrified forest actually is; well... thousands and thousands of years ago tree-stemms floated from central Africa all the way to Namibia (so they’re all over the place, laying tho, NOT standing!!). Over the years it gave some chemical reaction which made the stemm tun into stone.Quite odd! The guide told us that it is strictly forbidden by law to take pieces of Petrified forest home as you can get a big fine and risk 1 year in prison :p !!
