... can rip you open. Cassowaries are endangered because they get hit by cars, fed the wrong food, and killed by wild dogs. Wild pigs eat cassowary eggs. Their rainforest is being destroyed, so they have less places to live. Cassowaries are very important to the rainforest, because many of the trees germinate only when the seeds get passed through the body of a cassowary.

... did manage to get some photos but it wasnt quite the reflection of beautiful mountains into the big lake that it apparently should have been. Weather had really clagged in and we had some rainy spells too. Still an enjoyable walk though and saw some blue mushrooms and massive spiders on the way round so they are now options into the photo competition. ... because for the first time it was not only endless fields with cattle on either side of the road. We were planning a few activities while we were based in Port Douglas: Mosman Gorge, Daintree River, Cape Tribulation and of course a day out diving at the Great Barrier Reef.
