      ... northern shore of the Albany River, 10 km upstream from James Bay. It is, unfortunately, probably best known for the water crisis that occurred several years ago. There is a dyke, made from a mixture of clay and gravel, that surrounds the community. It reaches 10 feet high and it is about 5.3 km in length. Flooding does still occur though, but not as bad as it once was.

      Definitely an adventure we will remember. ...

      ... we finally made it to our site, which was gorgeous event in the rain, we had to figure out how to shore our canoe. our site was on top of a small cliff. we ended up tying the canoe to a tree and letting it hang there, hoping it would still be there in the morning. and despite the downpour, the mosquitoes were dense and ate away at sarinder. by the time we got our tent up, everything was wet. everything. we spent the night huddling next to our mec candle lantern, which is ...

      ... started to sky rocket. there's nothing worse than going on a weekend trip and having to get the warden to kick the previous tennants out. at 2:30, a half hour after we were supposed to be setting up our tent for the weekend, the russians were still there. i rolled down my window and motioned toward my watch as the woman turned to look at me. i promised myself that if they weren't gone in ten minutes, i would set fire to their tent. ok. so, i over-reacted. ...
