    ... holder. Everything was 50% off (winter season). I made it in time for the next tour, which I did not know was to be conducted on a trolley; actually a long metal wagon pulled by a jeep thing. I called "shotgun" since I was the only person solo on the tour and got to ride up in the jeep with our wonderful, nice, and knowledgeable tour guide, Pam.

    What an amazing cavern! It was well-worth the price ...

    Another beautiful pool, put to good use!

    This resort is another one with a beautiful pool (and another one available to us through Resort Parks International).
    We went into Hermann, toured the Stone Hill Winery, the Hermann Wurst Shoppe, stopped in a Brewery (for Greg, of course), and then had a bite of BBQ. A good day, despite the oppressive heat (which seems to be the theme of this summer's travels!)

    6:30 am start hopefully to beat the wind and any storms coming through later. Glad to see the last of Oklahoma. Stopped in Rolla, MO. So far we've missed the rain.     ... back to the hotel and checked out and then headed on our way, back on Route 66. Our one and only stop today was at Meremac Caverns - 27 miles of underground caves. This was supposed to be where Jesse James had a hide out at one stage. It is in the middle of a national park and inside a privately operated camping ground.
