The weather looked like it would hold so we took a chance and went for a run along the lake. It was a nice lake and the houses were resort-like. Apparently, it's the cool place to go from Winnipeg. We have spent the last 6 days in Riding Mountain National Park about 2 hours drive northwest of Winnipeg. The park encompasses a large area along the Manitoba escarpment formed after the last ice age which extends into the US. So the terrain is hilly, forested with lakes and meadows compared with the flatter grassy prairie around it. Needless to say, we found our way back out to the highway after a few kilometers of that disaster and took a longer but more paved route to the section of the park that had access to the lake.
