... Bridge, which is really just a bridge. You can see all of the major monuments on either side, lined up. It's an easy city to visit. It looks pretty in the evening when everything is lit up. The architecture is heavily influenced by Western Europe. I think it's because the Ottomans didn't do much with Skopje until the 19th C, by which time they were westernized.

Surprising Skopje

... and sunny, blue skys and relatively warm (0 degrees). The trip was spectacular, over snow covered farms and mountains. The border crossing was high in the mountains and easy. Everyone had to drag their bags out for an inspection but it was quick and easy.
About an hour from Skopje the bus broke down, but 20 minutes later we were off again. It gave all the locals time to get off and have yet another cigarette.
