More about the name thing: countries sit in the UN in alphabetical order. Macedonia isn't seated under "M", since Greece objects. Nor is it seated under "F" since Macedonia doesn't want to be thought of as "Former Yugoslav" with a capital ...

I was knackered by the time I got to Skopje so only had a bit of a look around. The Embassy there for the US is apparently the biggest in the world. It was like a fortress. Amazing. Didn't want to risk taking any photos of it though. They have a pretty cool castle though. But Skopje essentially has two things interesting about it.
