after Rafting Back at Hotel as it is in a place I know
Got a few books to while away the nights
Emma and Jason back so we had a meal, packed bags for flight tomorrow
Kathmandu, Nepal emeric.bensaci... We got up at 5am the next morning and started to base camp, it is perhaps the coldest I have ever been, our water bottle was frozen and we slowley trudged towards, well what everyone said was a dissappointing view of - well nothing really. We trudged and we trudged, I started to take off clothes being too hot and the sickness returned, flshing lights in front of my eyes, not only battling the altitiude but the freezing temperatures where not ...
Kathmandu, Nepal sophiemills... tell myself, and the snow begins to fall— first as hail, then as sheets of ice. Jill and I stop to put on rain gear. We snack on yak cheese and bread, then trudge on up the mountain, hoping that every corner will reveal the famous monastery on the hilltop.
Reaching the plateau, we slog through four inches of snow. The blizzard obscures our view of mountain and trail. Finally we reach the monastery and head for the only ...
Hi Guys,
I thought I would start up my travel blog and tell you about my experience to Nepal. Last may my brother and I decided to take up a challenge and head straight to Nepal and do the famous mt Everest base camp trek. We did 3months of training before as some parts are steep and some parts are cold.
We did a lot of research on who to book with as we were wanting to do our trek on our own with a guide and of ...
Kathmandu, Nepal tonicastells... me nor am I overly fussed about it - although I am very tired... my $2 bed in Kathmandu will be welcomed!
The flight has been fine, however, it's already a bit of a wake up call. As soon as I got to the check in at the London Airport, it was abundantly clear that I'm heading into a foreign world that is going to test my senses and wits in a big way. I am going to be totally politically incorrect- - there were so many weird, scary, deformed, "off" people on the ...
... found a famaliar bit and knew where i was. I arrived back as the bike shop guy was literally walking away from the door, i had aboot 2 seconds to spare and could indeed get my credit card back that day....which was very important as i wanted to leave the city early the next morning. That put a huge smile on my face as i could feel the universe's humour and i just laughed. I was again happy...and exhausted. It was time for a much deserved beer.
... good pictures and just sit back and take it all in.
With the weather seemingly clear, only one decision remained. Do we trek back out the same way we arrived or do we attempt to cross the 18800 ft pass at Gondogoro La. On the way in this seemed a no-brainer. I was feeling well acclimatized and we'd lugged in crampons and an ice axes to assist us in the attempt. I'd never done this kind of "semi-mountaineering" but I ...
... of this remote outpost. Having assumed that this would be one of the last places on earth I would find anything to buy, I had left my money in the room. How I envied the other people as they sat sipping delicious looking mugs of coffee and gazing wistfully at the snowy peaks in the morning sun. I briefly thought about trading the chunky silver health medallion that I had purchased from a wily Tibetan woman in Pokhara, but decided against it as I superstitiously reasoned it would lead to a ...
