Goodbye rich coast....

... and worse, the path goes up 300m in 3km, and it was a muddy, clayey path, slippery and hard to walk on... we did eventually make it to the top, having skidded and slipped all over the place, and waded through massive puddles and you guessed it, we couldnt see anything, just clouds... the wind was really strong up there, and there were TV masts, and the sound of the wind howling around them and the tree´s could actually have been the soundtrack to a horror movie ...

Day 21 and 22, Saturday and Sunday

... penne pesto with chicken! so good! (all that plus a piña colada for $20!!!)  The concert was a lot of fun-the venue was Vertigo-a super trendy club so there was dancing/music before the show even started.  We didn't get home until at least 1:45 so I showered quickly and went to bed.

Saturday

Woke up at 5:20 because I met Steffie and Nick at the school at 5:45 to take a taxi downtown to Grand Hotel Costa Rica where we were picked up for the tour to ...

... which was "Bart" and to call him it whenever he exhibits a Bob or Art-like characteristic. Such as whenever he gets ridiculously cheap or whenever he focuses too much on poker.

Our cousin had picked out a great spot to spend our time. El Silencio del Campo had everything you could want and then some. It was a cabin-room with enough space for the 3 of us, private bathroom, small fridge, TV (unnecessary), restaurant, pool and a ...

Pay your dues at the right time or else

We´ve come out to the carribean side for some serious wildlife action. This national park (another one) is a serious of river canals and tributaries which you can explore by canoe or on foot if you don´t mind the snakes. The town can only be accessed by boat again and once again there is no traffic, just the odd bike. It has that laid back carribean feel and a pretty windswept long stretch of beach. And the best banana cake I have ever had. It was a ...

Journey to the Caribic and all over the country!

... right in time at 6 o´clock in the morning, when the life on the forest was awakening, we found ourselves in the middle of birds, caymans, small turtles, butterflies and monkeys again! Afterwards we discovered the resort walking through it, wearing black gumboots (that made us look hilarious) and starting up a fight in the beach, rolling down covered with black san all over towards the water! Tortuguero also has a small museum, where we watched a movie about the nesting of the ...

... from which locals can procure their morning beans. The Doka tour consists of a walk through the growing/drying and roasting facilities. I found it interesting since it's not something I've done before. Unfortunately now that I know what goes into growing, drying and roasting the beans, I'll probably end up paying more for my coffee in the U.S. It's kind of like learning about wine and grapes...the more your know, the better you want. Midnight Turtle Hunting - one wild ride!

... It more than rained. It more than poured. I know they call this a tropical rainforest, but I don't think I've ever seen so much rain. They should call it a Rain tropicalforest. And that nice hat and raincoat? Yep... warm and toasty in my hotel room. The guide and I jogged over to a small grocery shack and purchased two hefty garbage sacks - "turtle coats" he called them - after my simple request for an extra 5 minutes went unheeded. So, here we are, at ...
