We say our farewells to the Jakera gang and jump on our 8pm night-bus to Maracaibo, a hub city where we should be able to connect to the border. Four hours away on Google Maps it takes an inexplicable (and frosty, due to AC on full) ten hours; we miss our connecting fancy bus to Santa Marta and are forced to get a 'Por Puesto'. A telephone call and an hour or so later, he finally arrives. We pile into the back of a pickup to our stopover accommodation, which proves to be a nice thatched cabin in what amounts to a luxury resort. Shame we are only here for a night!
