This morning we woke up after having what felt like the most luxurious nights sleep!! I guess you really appreciate an actual bed even after 3 days sleep in a truck. We really felt like it was such a fancy treat to have a bed and a shower….we even managed to make our juice and soup up in the room and watched a bunch of tattoo programmes on the TV.

So we woke up, had a shower which again felt very special and packed everything back in the ...

... pretty wooded areas with streams running down the mountain which took our minds off of the upcoming struggles a little.

Anyway…we made it to the top…YAY!! We started at just over 8000ft elevation and ended around 2000ft higher so we were ready to sit down and get our breath back.

I gave him the ...

Unfortunately, I did not realize how high up Aspen is (2400m above sea level) and once we started our hike at Maroon Bells, I felt quite dizzy and tired. Turns out I must have had some sort of altitude sickness at 3000m above sea level... That happened on our hike in Santa Fe as well.. well, now I know :)

I recovered quickly and finished the hike at least...

... is home to cliff dwellings of the Ancient Pueblo
people who built elaborate homes and communities into the side of cliffs during
the 1200’s but abandoned them for unknown reasons within 100 years. We arrived
at one of the sites at 6:25 only to find that it closed at 630. Rather than try
to come back in the morning (it didn’t open until 830), ...
