Highway 64, South Rim Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona, United States, 86023, 928-638-2631
Leaving the glitz and glam of Vegas behind, we ventured on down to the Hoover Dam, straddling the Nevada/Arizona border. I'm no civil engineer, but even I have to admit its extremely impressive to say the least. It's extremely large for a start. Considering how old it is, I can't even imagine how much trouble it took to build it. They do run tours of the works, explaining what it does, why and how, but I was too cheap to be going on that, so I just stared at it for an hour. Leaving Nevada beh...

Grand Canyon, Arizona, United States delfinoWe left the lodge and travelled around the south side of the Canyon De Chelly. We stopped at all the overlooks for David and Ellen to take some photos. Once again we saw the ruins of the ancestral Puebloian sites inside the rock ledges. Canyon de Chelly is a beautiful place to visit, and is a sacred Navajo Reservation. This is still the home of modern day Navajos. As we stopped at the overlooks, many Navajo people were selling their merchandise. We bought some of these, and it was interesting...
Grand Canyon, Arizona, United States ellenwillowWell we weren't sure what to expect when we got here as we had already seen a gaping hole in the ground at Canyonlands and loved the colours in Bryce so we thought nothing could amaze us now. Well we were right. ha! The Grand Canyon is pretty cool and it's absolutely gargantuan, but it was pretty hazy so details weren't great and from every direction you could see at in, the view looked the same. There were a lot of tourists here once again because it's easily accessable by car or giant *****...

Grand Canyon, Arizona, United States julesj66Hey all, well this will no doubt be my last travel entry for my trip around the united states. The trip has been an absolute blast. Since my last entry we've done alot of triping around the countryside. We've been to South Lake Tahoe to go skiing for a few days over Christmas. From there Jenni and I went to visit her friend Jamie in Sacramento for a night where we scored getting onto the VIP list for one of the hot spots for nightlife - cover charge is normally $20 at this nightclub!! From th...
Hollywood, California, United States nic_norrisSaturday 10th September 2005 Some of this entry is actually travelling from last night from Las Vegas to Flagstaff, Arizona. We managed to catch our bus to Kingman, Arizona where we would catch the connecting train to Flagstaff. The bus left the airport terminal early and it was only by chance we walked past some guy shouting 'anyone leaving for Kingman'! There were no signs and lots of people complaining! Our luggage was loaded onto one bus and we left on another....I was worried sick about ...

... and setting up the tent, the two were prepared to spend a relaxing day in the wilderness. They first trekked to the Desert View Tower to achieve a more bird’s eye view of the canyon. The journey up the Native-American cultured tower gave them a great view of the Colorado River: the source of the chiseled rock. They then moved south to another location: Navajo Point, where they found “their spot” to watch the sunset that would occur 3 ...
Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona, United States nickandchels... running around, with a few humming birds too. There was a huge Raven sitting behind me as well on the grass crowing loudly every now and again, crying out for a treat; we're not allowed to feed the wildlife though sadly; it's illegal to even approach any wildlife.
Before I knew it it was time to meet Paul again in the mini van, he'd been taking the people that had paid for the helicopter rides to the small airport there. Obama was there at the Canyon ...
