Sweet as...South Island!

... to try and hitch hike our way back ( shh don't tell my mom she might not be very happy about this idea) Luckly we were picked up by someone who dropped us in Cromwell and within 5 minutes of being on the rode we were picked up by a wonderful woman named Jewls who lived in QT and we got a little tour of Arrowtown out of the deal. Upon my return I rang up kex ( who i met earlier in the week) and she and her boyfriend had moved into a flat up the mountain and ...

All work and snow play...

... not to watch it but secretly can’t help himself glancing up every minute and commenting on the ever more ridiculous plot developments.

So, as I mentioned, we both have jobs now but nothing really to get too enthusiastic about. I’m working in a t-shirt shop with lot’s of cheeky/funny slogans which proved very amusing for my first day but now I just seem to grit my teeth every time people come in and read them out to each other in fits of ...

Walking on thick ice and stuff

... afterwards...! This track must be an absolute pleasure in summer though, when you can take 5 days to complete the whole track and stop on many occasions to dive into the sea at the many golden beaches!

We then headed south along the west coast of the south island and drove along one of the 10 most stunning coastal roads in the world. And it must be said, it was quite stunning. We encountered a seal colony (see pics), some pancake shaped rocks and some ...

Queenstown Day 51 and 52

Day 51

Today I went with Jo to watch her do her canyon swing. It was mental, she was attached to a harness and then dropped off the platform, plummeting and then swinging through the canyon. She seemed to really enjoy it and the video was really amusing as the staff were winding her up as they do with all the people who do it. Then after Jo had done that we were driven back to Queenstown and had another fergburger and then went for another ...

Amazing Queenstown

... can imagine; bungy jumping, skydiving, jetboating, skiing, canyon swinging - the list goes on. Unfortunately they all come with a hefty price tag so its been hard to decide what we can afford. We decided that we can't leave without doing something adrenaline pumping, so we're going to push the boat out and do a skydive (even if it means living on beans on toast for the rest of the trip!).

The Big 22 in Queenstown

... topics such as kosher and the old circumcision. The I got cake! I love a bit of cake I do! Everyone had sorted me out big time, and so far, my birthday was brilliant! Being bloody miles away from home, friends and family could have made my birthday suck, but I was having a really good day thanks to everyone's efforts! After dinner, we played drinking rooms in our room (117) with a whole bunch of people and then went down to the bar. We ended up at world bar (the teapot place ...

with the hope to complete australia blog today!

... to the coast and the highly tourist trafficked gold coast, complete with towering office blocks and nightly light pollution! now don't get me wrong, i'm sure if i was only doing the sydney to cairns tour of australia and had all the money in the world to spend on sky-diving and binge drinking alone, rather than campervan repairs and actually seeing the real australia on the road, i'd probably be down there making my own quota of noise and light pollution too, but we didn't come to ...

Queenstown – Franz Josef

... my stilted idea of elapsed time during the preparations, it felt like it had been much longer. The chute opened and there was definitely some relief on my part as we decelerated with a huge jolt – I was warned this part could have a 'lunch box' effect but the harness didn't rearrange things too badly. Sasa rounded out the experience by doing some neat steering manoeuvres with the parachute then it was a nice smooth landing back at the airfield in front of The ...
