The room, the people, the food but foremost, the location is incredible. This place is an experience like no other, the beautiful sights, amazing wildlife and comfort of the eco-friendly lodge is something we didn't want to say goodbye to. There's so much going on in the dense forest around you that you don't know where to look first, the canopy walkway on a misty morning is awe-inspiring and the sounds of the rainforest while having diner is just unforgettable.

    An Amazing Rainforest Experience

The rooms, amenities and food are excellent, especially considering the remoteness of the location. The staff are all friendly and helpful and the guides are very knowledgeable and make sure that you have every opportunity to see as much wildlife as possible, especially of course, the famous orangutans. Definitely a suberb setting from which to experience the pristine rainforests of Sabah an all they have to offer.

    From disgusting to paradise

We first went to the Gomantong Caves, what an experience! This cave is huge and it's filled with millions of bats, cockroaches, centipedes, crabs and birds. The main hall is a huge mountain of guano crawling with cockroaches and crabs. This is all quite disgusting but at the same time it's also very beautiful, the lighting inside the cave, all that …

No vastaus oli aika selvä; ramadan-kuukauden aikaan …

It poured all night and on our tin roof was quite loud, so not much sleep was had! A delicious breakfast was enjoyed in preparation for our walk. We stated out at 8am, the first group to hit the hills behind the lodge. We crossed two swinging bridges, before dropping off our bathers at the Jacuzzi Pool. It was a much steeper climb than we had …

We woke about 6.15am to pack and be clear of our room by 7.00am. After breakfast and a short trip up the river to another 'jetty' we alighted a mini van to drive to the Gomantong Caves. The swiftlet birds build nests from their saliva. There are brown and white nests - the white nests are far more valuable. The locals climb right up to great …

    Wildlife on the Kinabatangan

A travel blog entry by llcooldays

We made it to Borneo, and it was time to get back to nature. It took the better part of a day to get there, but we were eventually boarding a small boat with our luggage to cross the mighty Kinabatangan River that cuts across Borneo. We unloaded at the Nature Lodge Kinabatangan, a peaceful little resort perched on the bank on the river and tucke...
