      It's pronounced "New MAD-rid" not “New Muh-DRID”, by the way. I found that out when we stopped by the local grocery store to find out if they had a laundromat in town. “In New MAD-rid? Ohhhh no, we do not. We used to have two, but the owner up and sold them a couple of years back. Your best bet is Sikeston.” Sigh…Sikeston is 18 miles away in the same direction we just came from.       ... we sort of choked on that, but decided that we may never have another chance to do this, so we bit the bullet. However, when we pulled in, the girl asked us how long we were going to be and then she called someone and he said we could park for $10.
