... and then decided to continue up to the lodge to see if the view was better. Their look out deck was just as crowded and the clouds were already beginning to come down and cover her peaks (I feel sorry for people who slept in). Very happy we turned the camper back towards Talkeetna. We decided to go to The Roadhouse for breakfast, a well known restaurant and room rental place in Talkeetna. Many climbers stay there as their ...

We arrive a Talkeetna in the early afternoon. Mostly cloudy skies dominate the view form the south of the AK range. The forecast is for rain the next 4 days. I stop at the Lataiude 62, my hangout when I lived here for 10 years. Nancy the co-owner is there and we talk of staying here while getting lunch. Sheila got up as I went out to the garage &, as I was departing (in their van), I asked where the hand brake was as I couldn't find it. It turned out to be a foot pedal up from the floor on the left, once pressed it had to be released by hand ...

A second walk for Maxie, but interrupted by mosquitoes attacking her. Cat attacking mosquitoes -- a new experience for Maxie, but fewer mosquitoes on us. Sorry Maxie. We plan to buy Maxie a mosquito repellent collar in Anchorage for our rig-walks on the Kenai.

So much for the wilderness experience of interior Alaska. Swat, swat, swat -- on to mosquito-less Anchorage.

Good-bye mosquitoes; hello traffic and crowds.
