Our travels - Talkeetna to Mt McKinley and Denali

A travel blog entry by gptimson

... a family restaurant called 2030, where we had dinner (George had one of his favourite seafood chowders), a couple of bars and food to go outlet, and typical of the Princess ships - a well stocked gift shop. The key feature of the Mt McKinley Princess Lodge is the absolutely magnificent views of Mt McKinley. Standing 22300 metres above sea level, it looked so close but we were 70 miles away. North east Alaska in 2 days Anchorage and glamping

A travel blog entry by mmcc

... Meyer again to pick some items to make the next few weeks glamping even more comfortable and headed for Talkeetna. Talkeetna is another small village with a quaint rustic look. There are class 5+ rapids at the entrance to the canyon. No rafters or kayakers have ever made it through. Only 1 boat has ever made it (a jet boat). So the driver stops and hovers at the entrance to the canyon, before turning the boat around and heading back ...

Fortunately he only when into the water with one leg up to the knee but nothing was going to put a "damper" on the rest of our hike. Scott said his Asolo hiking boots really came through.

It was a perfect day and although the only wild life we saw was a duck, it a beautiful. We also felt good getting out and getting ...
