... We felt like David Attenborough whispering in our jeep as we watched a lioness awake, flanked by her cub, look right then sniff a zebra to the right across the track we were on. The thirsty zebra wanted a sip of that spring water and approached the track, stopping intermittently, unable to see the lion but sure as can be smelling her....it inched across the track, attracting attention from his buddies, and like the blind leading the blonde, or Lemmings headed ...

On Safari in the Serengeti!

... with long tables inside and bars surrounding it, a roof above. When the rest of the girls joined us we played hearts until the whole group had arrived. They served delicious spaghetti and bread and we ate heartily. After dinner we sat around talking, it was either that or go straight to the tent to sleep and it was only 8pm. I went to the bathroom cautiously, stopping by our tent for a mini ...

... and having fun. I think we were the talk of the camp because in the morning we were known as hyenas because we were trying to make a lot of different animal sounds throughout the night. We had an early start as usual and had a morning game drive through the Serengeti again. We saw a lot of wildlife as expected but nothing really really cool. Followed by brunch back at the camp which consisted of pancakes, eggs, beans ...

I bless the rains down in Africa

... Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge, made up of domed huts with thatched roofs. Very cute. The main lodge is quite handsome and very thematic. Wood-carved warriors, thatched roofs, and a disappearing edge swimming pool overlooking the Serengeti.

We cleaned up and headed to dinner at 7:30 pm. After dark, the hotel requires all guests to have an escort on the property, because of the threat of animals. We saw lions and Cape buffalo just ...

Vast plains of the Serengeti!

... us in the middle of the Serengeti Park. Listening to the lions roar at night! Something was sniffing and rubbing up against the outside of our tent but we did not know what it was. Just as well I think! We slept well in spite of this.

... thousands. As far as you can see in one direction there were wildebeeste covering the plains up to the horizon. We also encountered quite a few lions, two of which were on day one of their 7 day mating ritual. The first couple of days consists mostly of foreplay, teasing and growling. About every 10-20 minutes the female will circle the male and lay down in front of him getting ...

Splendors of the Serengeti

... for opportunities for other animals but as Ben started the engine and shifted into gear, I wondered if this would be the best chance we would have to see a lion. To balance out the disappointing lion experience , our luck was quite good with leopards, who are usually quite elusive and difficult to see. Since they often hide in trees, it takes an experienced guide to spot the shadow of the body along a ...

... pile he eventually recovered both items. The clean up began and took a while, it was nasty, but saved us over £50! It then became clear why the Masai was so keen to help as he shoved his hand out for money. Now shouldering the AK I was not going to argue and gave him three quids worth of Tanzanian Shillings. Finally we could go to bed our fellow campers amused at the antics of the evening. Sophie was a star as she helped Clare and I clean up ...

Safari in the Serengeti and Ncgorogoro crater

... break lose. We stopped briefly at the crater to take some photos and it was a overcast day so we didn't stay to long. As we moved through the crater park we saw a number of animals and as we got closer to the Serengeti we started to see the migration of animals which was amazing 2 million wildebeests and 200,000 zebras as far as the eye can see like black dots on the horizon. After passing by numerous animals we ended up in our camp which was quite interesting as there was no ...
