Corcovado National Park, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica flitterjahr... with large frogs all making the biggest racket going. We shot some great video and got some funny pictures. The things you do in these places... head torches on, scrambling around like big kids. Oh, fresh campers arrived today. We suddenly feel like the old hands having been here for longer than anyone, and basically had the camp to ourselves today. I'm totally useless with names, but its Karen and Steve (I think ...

Once that we were more or less in safe waters we went to the Van Van house, a place recommended to us for a couple of bush country girls that we me in Ometepe Island, this will be a future backpackers accommodation but right now is just a project ( it mean to be done in 6 months but they get 1.5years on the project and still working on it), is the house of a tico who is the proper definition of "pura vida", a really worthy character to know and very popular in the ...
Corcovado National Park, Costa Rica javierferrin... had bent alot of the rebar armature that was to be the pillars for the roof. I decided to stay at the church next to the site as there was bit more privacy than the other house I was going to stay at. With nothing much to do that evening I began to read some literature hanging around and quickly found out that these people were pretty straight edged folks. no ...
Golfito, Costa Rica gonesurfin... I got a swim-up bar, great pools, and tasty and cheap sushi! I was also able to fix and calibrate the autopilot, so things were looking up. Javier was great company, and his mother has a direct line to God, because through her prayers, the bad weather around us never hit us. We maybe got 20 ...
Golfito, Costa Rica wmdkim... the park, so we made our way back to Quepos to catch a bus to Playa Dominical. it was a 4 hour bus right and it was hot and sweaty and basically i hate the bus!! but eventually we did make it here and right when we got off the bus it started to downpour on us!! so we quickly made our way to a restaurant where we had an amazing dinner and an even better banana split to finish it off and made our way to our hostel. and that is where we are now!!
Quepos, Manual Antonio and Playa Dominical, Costa Rica maiamuffin... Herpetologist" that I had been given at La Selva because I caught a frog. From corcovado we hiked out another 20 k, about half of which was beach walking, then took a "taxi" (pickup trucks with seats in the back) to a town, then took a boat across the Gulfo Dulce (saw flying fish and a sea turtle) then finally took a bus to las cruces, which, compared to corcovado, is a 6 star hotel. Those stars are: pillows, electricity, internet, couches ...
Las Cruces, Costa Rica prunierWooohooo! Bring on the sun and fun! Now this is the Costa Rica that I know and love. We spent the next few days at Alex's place fishing, snorkeling, swimming, hiking, chatting, laughing, and watching "lapas" and monkeys. The gulf was really clean and clear during this trip. We went up the Rio Esquinas and to Los Mogos. We stopped at Playa Belina to snorkel and WOW the vista was beautiful! I tried to catch ...
Golfito, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica puravida2008... pathetic 4 knots of wind. Walkabout displaces 15t so we're lucky to be moving at all! Eric and I are trying to fix that dodgy fuel pump and 4 hours later we re-emerge on deck covered in diesel, having carried out a temporary repair and re-primed the fuel circuit. I thought I had done enough faffing around with pumps at work to last me a lifetime, and after sucking diesel, I realised that cyan ink wasn't that bad after all! The over pressure switch in the pump did not always ...
