    ... loving it!!

Before it started to get dark, we headed to Glenwood Canyons which was so pretty to drive through….we ended up staying in a rest area for Hanging Lake which is where we planned to start our day on Thursday. We had read you weren’t allowed to camp out but it was open and signed as a rest area so we did it!! It was a pretty hot night out but also super rainy…we were asleep by 10 as we knew we had a big morning ahead of ...

... top of the mountain (as recommended by Sarah and Josh). It was called Berry Picker and was 2.5 miles….easy right!!! WRONG!! It said it would take up to 2 hours on the map and it took pretty much 2 hours…I think the mix of heat and a bit of light headedness due to altitude made it way harder than we expected. ... 8217;t have any open tours for days so we kept on
trucking. Denver wasn’t too appealing to us right now as we were more keen

kept telling me to keep taking more and more, so sorry if he uploads 100’s of
pictures of mountains. We drove on I-70 through the mountains and could just
see some super high snowy peaked ones far away. After a few ...

Aspen reminded me a bit of Banff, cute little ski/snowboard town with lots of hikes in the summer.

Unfortunately, I did not realize how high up Aspen is (2400m above sea level) and once we started our hike at Maroon Bells, I felt quite dizzy and tired. Turns out I must have had some sort of altitude sickness at 3000m above sea level... That happened on our hike in Santa Fe as well.. well, now I know :)

I recovered quickly and finished the hike at least...

    ... a
short, but steep, 2 mile hike that took us a little ways down into the canyon
and provided some jaw-dropping views (see pictures below). On the climb back
up, a bee stung James right in his achilles, leaving James with a swollen and
itchy blob for an ankle in the morning.

After the Black Canyon, we hit the road for Mesa Verde
    National Park. ...
