    Today we set off due south from Windhoek to the Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch near Mariental. It took us about 3 /12 hours - a perfect length of time for a drive. Once we left the city of Windhoek, we never saw a house or building until we reached our destination.

    We had a very early start, up at 4:15 to get to the airport for our 6:40 flight to Windhoek. Arrived in Windhoek international, not the biggest airport with about 4 other planes. Got through quickly and were met to be taken to collect our vehicle from the car hire agency in town. Got a better vehicle than initially told (Toyota Hilux 3l diesel 4x4).     ... like water, warm clothing first aid kit, TORCH and mobile - for the light alone. It was a pre-dominantly flat landscape, very red soil and dry grasses over much of the plains. The hardy, spiked shrubs and trees full of massive nests were the only other vegetation. We saw lots of flighty springbok and a mob (?) of wildebeest - another first for us.     We left Vereeniging around 10 and cleared customs in Upington FAUP ,it is Quick and easy but they do charge Overtime fee on Saturday which I did not know , at $ 40 it was at least not exorbitant. The Upington we crossed the Border to Namibia and Landed in Keetmanshoop FYKT. an arrival we could not get any response from the Controller, only another Airplane on the ground responded and told me to just use RWY 22.
