... you would know today). On the trip we saw two storks in a large nest on the roof of a church in the village of Gottenheim plus some others in other villages. They tend to prefer the high church steeples and return to the same nesting spot each year. Although we are not on main roads or autobahns, the roads are quiet today. Semi trailers are not allowed on the roads on weekends or Holy days so there are big parking lots for them to wait. Autobahn and main road numbers ...

... We stopped at a café and had a nice little bit of vegetable lasagna for lunch and then wandered around admiring the little chocolate box of a town. A canal runs along the front if the houses to supply water for tanning. Close by there was ornate market hall. The main canal was wider and very picturesque, you could take a half hour trip, the ...

The medieval towns of Ribeauville and Riquewihr were our destinations today. These very quaint towns are about 1.5hrs from Haselbourg and were recommended as worth the visit by a number of people we met over the last week and we were not disappointed. The towns are very close to each other so it was quite easy to spend a few hours in each town and still have time to explore other villages in the area. Both towns are full of half timbered homes ...
