Aoraki Mount Cook Alpine Lodge
Travel Blogs from Mt. Cook Village
It was an 8am start which is usually pretty easy but after the night before it was tough going getting up for that time! We had a new driver and new bus mates, only five of us from the other bus were on this one heading north bound to Mount Cook. En route we made several obligatory stray random stops, the best one was the supermarket stop in Twizel …
Mt. John Summit Walk
We started our morning with a huge breakfast at a local cafe. As you can tell by our pictures, the portions were plentiful and offered the much needed energy for our 3 hour hike up to Mt. John Observatory. We started at the base of the mountain and started our hike along the waterfront. The weather was warm and …

If we were to go down onto the beach from the café it would …
How has this lodge rated in the past?
This lodge is so beautiful. Apart from the absolutely stunning views from your bedroom window, the lodge itself is fully loaded.
The modern rooms are warm & cozy and quite spacious.
Down the corridor is a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering purposes. And once you've eaten your meal you can relax in the comfortable lounge with views overlooking Mt Cook. This lounge/kitchen area makes for great conversations with other passing travelers.
