We left Whittier after the cruise and camped at Wiiliwaw CG. A beautiful and magnificent location! We came here on the recommendation of Linda and Roger, who we meet when camping in Sarah Palin's backyard (Wassilla). Linda and Roger also recommend we go to the Begich Bogg Visitor center.

We took hike around Kenai. Visiting the Holy Assumption of the Virgin Mary Russian Orthodox Church. It is one of the oldest churches in Alaska. Fort Kenay, Parish House Rectory (considered the oldest building on the peninsula) and St. Nicholas Chapel. The area has rich Russian history.

We awoke bright and early still not sure if our bear viewing trip was a go or not. Eugenio, from Smokey Bay Air called at 7:00 and said we were set to go to Lake Clark National Park. We called a cab and got to their office by 7:30. Waders on, we got in the small Cessna and we were off. It wasn't raining, but was still cloudy while we flew. The flights to L.A. and on to Anchorage seemed to go by really fast. Baggage claim and rental car pickup went smoothly and we were shopping at Costco within 45 minutes of our landing. Our cabin is about 2 hours out of Anchorage in Sterling. ...
