Anyway after a great breakfast, Ken bid farewell to Barb as we set off with him to Punta Gorda airport for Kens flight back to Kentucky. He has been there for us from our flights on numerous occasions, even diverting his pickup for us this year after our flight arrival shifted from Lexington to Louisville...
so great for us to be able to repay him this time , by doing our bit in the transport .

Last year Erin and David met our friends Chuck and Jan who live about 10 minutes drive from us. Today we arranged to meet up and enjoyed a lovely fish meal at an old Florida Waterfront diner at Placida. After lunch, Chuck thought it would be a good idea to walk out on the long Pier that leads like a finger out into the harbour……it was SOOOO hot , and we were all dripping perspiration , with the guys shirts wet through , by the time ...
... have been visiting friends Chuck and Jan Jordan at Pt Charlotte, and had lunch out with them out near the entrance to Pt Charlotte harbour, a place called Placida on the Gasparilla Sound. We walked out a long jetty (ex railway crossing) nearby, after lunch, and all finished up gasping in the 33c heat before making it back to the cars. (We were reminded that "only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun" (or worse, 2pm 33c sun at 80% humidity and no breeze!))
12/24/12: To my lifetime bird list (increased 4 fold in Africa) I have now added Skua, snow petrels ,Shag's were nesting and showing great concern and sharing behaviors (Cormorant cousin), Antarctic tern and doubtless more. I have encountered Albatross on past adventures and expect they will be 'ship followers' ...
... could move from one to another. Eons of time passed and the masses drifted apart so their species became localized and distinct. Actually the restless continents are still moving and mashing into one another..India's movement northward is raising the Himalayas!
