We left Birch Villa at 8:15 a.m., Central Time. Even though we sent a few things home with Mom & Dad, our car seems fuller. I can't understand why…I mean, we only added several clothes purchases, 20 quart sized bags of frozen fish, a case of ForestEdge wine, and a kitten (plus litter, kitty food, etc)! The trip home was uneventful, with a stop for lunch at Culver’s in Rice Lake, Wisconsin (where we met up with Beth and her ...

... evening, we had our "last night pizza picnic," another Cass Lake tradition. The four families that were left ordered out from "Great River Pizza," and enjoyed it on the picnic tables between our cabins and the lake. While we had all the kids together, we decided it was as good a time as any for the annual cousin photo shoot and "jump shot." ... finished off the evening with a nice kayak ride for the ladies (Deb, Melissa and I) and some evening fishing. Nicole and Leah joined us, and although we only caught two fish, we had an exciting time. From the guy who chewed out Tom for driving through "his" fishing spot ("You gotta' be kidding me! Get a life!") to a beautiful sunset, to Nicole's 12" crappie...we had another great adventure on the Lake.

    ... through Minnesota countryside.

When we arrived in Walker, Tom loaded the bikes up on the car and we met up with the girls. After a little shopping (we HAD to pick up our Highlander Grogg coffee beans!), we all met at Zona Rosa's Mexican restaurant for supper. Now we're just hanging back at the resort, catching up on travel blogs, reading, and chatting with cousins.

We set our alarm for 5:00 a.m. so we could get up to see Seth and Maddie off. Seth said good-bye to Jared (who was sleeping outside in his hammock again), and then started saying good-bye to the ducks, the loons, the heron at the end of the dock, the lake, etc. It was very hard for him to say good-bye to Cass Lake this year. We all said our farewells and sent them on their way. They will be driving Tom's Prius back to Beth & Bill's where they'll pick up the Camry and ...
