    After getting off the ferry we searched for a rest stop nearby. First time washing up in a truck stop bathroom, forgot a towel so had to try and maneuver drying my face off with the air dryer.     87 degree temps does not encourage fall colors! However, a stop at Ben @ Jerry's eased the warm day. Crossed from VT to NY via Lake Champlain ferry ($23). Ausable Chasm was worth the stop...and provided a scenic hike. Colorful trees amidst interesting layers of rock were amazing!     ... with the dominant deciduous trees standing with color or no leaves at all. The forest was a golden color as we pulled into to the KOA. The main lodge was buzzing with children on bikes, campers-big RVs, as far as one could see among the trees. I got out and went into the office, my family watching the spectacle outside, new to the state and national park campers.

    ... I enjoyed a great time in the Adirondaks with friends and family at a cabin our buddies rent each year around Labor day. After the weekend, returned to home base NYC with family in our van for a couple of weeks before flying to Seattle to begin the adventure.
