Our first week in New Zealand.

... visited a few more vineyards. We came across a beach and as soon as we pulled up Matty recognised it as one he'd been to with his mum and dad when they were here. We had a relaxed evening in the house, it was just so nice been in a homely environment. Living out of campers for weeks on end has it's advantages but it does make you miss the four walls and home comforts. We arrived back at Suttys on Monday morning and more or less set off straight away. Our plan was to ...

... was it, we were dressed in the gear and up in the plane within 20 minutes. There's not much of a briefing - so no time to bottle it or change your mind! Dad It was nice to wake up and look out the window to see the sun rising on the coast. Toast for Breakfast with NZ Manuka honey then into town to check out the Art Deco Buildings. Jarrod enjoyed looking through a sword shop before hitting the road again. After a visit of the town we headed back to Lake Taupo and stopped on the way to pick ...

A travel blog entry by kas19 on Feb 22, 2015

... PM we regrouped to drive out to Hell's Gate another geothermal area with sulphur springs and mud pools that you could wade in. We abided the advice of the front desk and purchased some ammonia to wash our bathing suits with post soak. The mud pools were plumb full of asian tourists so we soaked in the sulphur pools gazing at the bubbling water and mud beyond the spas boundaries. While the natural pools and mud ...

Lake Taupo and the Tongairro Crossing

... we realised we had 4 more hours to walk and so we were on our way again without stopping so we would make the last bus back into Taupo. 3 hours and 50 minutes later we made it to the end of the Tongairro Crossing with enough dirt in our shoes for a whole farm, blisters galore, cuts, bruises and very sore limbs, joints and muscles but a sense of achievement... Well that came a couple of weeks later when we had finally got over how much we hated Mt ...
