Cape Kidnappers attracted our attention across the water long before we reached Napier. We speculated on what had caused the obvious erosion which left the cliffs a grey sandy colour. Perhaps it was high seas, or volcanic activity. In fact it was both, as we discovered when we took the tractor/ trailer tour along the beach to the gannet colony. ... any more! We then went to the glass blowing factory which had nothing on Europe I am afraid...but we had a nice lunch there! We then went to the earthquake discovery centre...nowhere in New Zealand is safe...there are plates moving under it everywhere...and so many cities have been damaged time and time again...scary place! We went in a simulator which simulated the Christchurch quake at 6.4 on the rector scale for 40 seconds! It was scary! Could not believe it! How ...

... the aching of the muscles! We had supper joined by 8 irish girls, so the peace we were gunna changed! They were embarking on the hike tomorrow and i think us explaining our aches and the challenges of the mountains put them off! However they were still up for a couple of drinks but this was 100%25 off the cards as we were so tired and in pain! Bed had never felt so good and we were all very excited for our relaxing day in Taupo ...
