Close to town, great playground for the kids, heated indoor pool. The location was a bit unusual and the room a bit cramped, but fine for 1 night and nice and tidy.

We are very tired after yesterday, so we decide to stay another night and just have a peaceful day. Eventually we head out along the other side of the inlet to Port Chalmers, where the cruise ships anchor and on to The Mole, a disused jetty. Despite a barrier saying that you should not go on The Mole because it was dangerous, we took heed of the …

As there is only one shower for the girls and one for the boys, Neil says we have to get up early to avoid the rush !!! But that doesn't happen (the rush or me getting up early), it seems we are the only people getting showered this morning. We leave and head for Nugget Point, the last stop on the Caitlin Scenic Route that really interested us. The …

Well today is the sixth anniversary of my operation and we thought we would celebrate those six years with a bit of a wildlife extravaganza. We are going to the Otago peninsula to do some walking and visit a couple of conservation projects, the sky is fairly clear and the wind has dropped a bit but was very cold last night and it won't get much …

Had a wander into Dunedin town, then had a trip on the Taieri gorge railway, spectacular train journey from Dunedin to the taieri rugged river gorge. Took 4 hours in total. It was amazing with great views and the weather was gorgeous.

Today we went on an early morning walk along the beach to see the points we had named Lovewell point, Lovewell edge, and Wave view...they were still there! And so were the sea lions. It is such a great spot.

Then it was in the car to go exploring up the Catlins coast. We went to Tunnel Hill, which is a tunnel made by hand by 70 men, it …
