    ... and in the clear.

    First real stop was White Sands National monument which is the world's largest gypsum dune field. It was pretty darn cold out there as we wandered around and walked around the dunes enjoying the scenery. From here you could also hear the loud roar of a fighter jet looking aircraft doing circles around the mountains in the distance.

    My new backpack for our ATW trip......Jansport 65L! Not a small backpack, but I want to make sure I'll have plenty of room for my stuff. After all, we'll be living out of it for 35 days.     ... hours, we started feeling the RV chug a little going up hills and the engine warning light came on a few times. But we continued onward and finally our destination, the KOA in Las Cruces, New Mexico, came into view.     ... pecan trees. In fact the largest pecan orchard is in this area. We really enjoyed seeing these orchards and the fields of peppers. We bought a 40# sack of peppers and let them roast them. Les is cleaning the peppers right now and I will be putting them in the freezer. We did this the last time we were in Albuquerque and really enjoyed the flavor of the peppers for a couple of years.
