Today was supposed to be a rain day so we planned things that didn't require good weather. As it turned out it was a beautiful day - probably over 19 degrees!! We started out at the Folk Center - many great pieces from local artisans including quilting, pottery, paintings, woodworking, jewellery no more. Then we drove to the Builtmore Estate - home of the Vanderbuilts. We didn't actually see it ... A very ...

We left this morning around 8:50 - travelling to Ashville today. It was a lovely drive through the mountains. More colour in the trees than what we saw in the park. 15 degrees today!! Arrived at Lake Powhatan State park near Ashville around noon. Found 2 campsites, set up camp, had lunch and headed out for a hike on Mt. Mitchell. We wanted to go to the top of the highest point in the eastern states ( Mt. Mitchell 6647ft high). Upon ...

We joined Pam and Simon on the back patio and we had a nice evening talking about all sorts of things. Tomorrow we are off to Asheville to ...

... out the quirky shops and people. We even gave a woman (with a genuine Southern accent, finally) a ride to an AA meeting at a local church. Southern people are so friendly...
The drive back was so nice. Good talks, beautiful scenery (thanks to a wrong turn), and it finally cooled down. We ended the night with some BBQ, at a place that was truly hopping. It was so much fun. ...

... how they'll just stand there for you and let you pet them and groom them and when they've had enough they just walk away... And the next one comes up to you and waits for you to groom them! There is a pecking order though so you always gotta also watch out for who is higher up and who is at the bottom! Erin and I then drove to the top pasture to spread out more of the wasps onto the poop... So I hope it's gonna work to keep the flies away! We ...
