My mom has a roast out, as she does every time we come and if we are late we will probably get roast beef sandwiches...(Mom must have a freezer full of 'Guest Roasts' that she saves for visitors) By the way, the temperature this morning was a whopping sleeping in the tent would have ...

... The American ones seemed more impressive or perhaps it's that I'm more interested now or that 30 plus years have meant things change. There is a large two level covered viewing area and no named chairs for the regulars but we did end up standing by an obvious regular as he knew how long it took to lower the ship in the first lock and details of the bulk carrier, Walter J. McCarthy Jr., that carried either iron ore or coal - our ...

... roar of the river which makes for nice background music when sleeping.

Twelve Mile Beach Campground is quite nice but very different from Hurricane River. While one is set back in the woods with isolated campsites the other sits on a bluff above the lake and limited privacy to neighboring sites. Access to the beach at Twelve Mile is good and you can walk for miles without seeing anyone. Its also a great place to look for rocks. ...
