... main halls which contain images of Buddha and a huge surrounding courtyard. Again, it is all very stark and utilitarian compared to cathedrals but very much in keeping with the peace and calm associated with Asian religion.

By this time, we had run out of time and had to make the dash back to the ship to make sure were arrived in time for the sailing. The visit to the market street would have been interesting though. Our drive ...

... the long weekend, I headed to a new province with quite ambitious ideas of all the things I wanted to do in those 3 days. Today we as per usual, got up and pampered ourselves then headed to get breakfast once again, catching up with people we've met along the way. Quite a few people were going on the same tour as ours so there was lots of buses heading out. Today we are doing The Essence of Xiamem, which takes us to a temple, a beach Buddah ( and I don't mean us on the beach!!) then to a pedestrian shopping mall.
Our first stop was at the Temple and the first thing we had to do ...

Had a lazy day today staying around the Hotel Indigo. We walked down Zhongshan Lu and had lunch at Aijsen Ramen, one of our favourite Japanese restaurant chains. We then wandered back to the hotel and had afternoon tea sitting up in the restaurant area overlooking the harbour and Gulangyu Island, unfortunately not warm or nice enough to sit outside.
