Even thought the weather was great, the sun took a lot out of them, so they opted not to go to see the culture show at Gion Corner. Instead they chose to go to Kyoto station. With in the confines of the station is an underground shopping mall with at least 200 stores. ...
Blossom, beef and fishy business!
... see it. You can still go inside but from the outside you kind of have to imagine what it would look like. Nevertheless it's still a pretty sight sitting in the park in front of it surrounded by lots of cherry blossom trees in full bloom.
After lunch we headed in and took up the offer of a free English guide who took us around the castle for a couple of hours. The castle itself was lovely and was in fact a location for the James Bond film 'you only live twice' ...
Day 19: A day of rest in Kyoto
