I normally start Tuesday with a personal training session, today was no different. I wasn't however in the gym in Crows Nest with Sarah and Troy, but getting a full body work out racing from station to station pulling 21 kg of luggage! We had to search for lifts, balance carefully on escalators and lug suitcases up sets of stairs and over the gap between trains and platforms. I felt I earned my beer at lunch! We caught the first train from Ikebukuro to Tokyo ...
Today was all about the monkeys. About an hour from Nagano by express bus, a bit more hiking and we're there.
Jigokudani park is the monkey spa resort to visit. It was a sunny worm day so they where not keen to take a hot bath bot few peanuts from the staff did the trick. One even dived in for good while. A proper underwater swim, amazing!
We spent there an afternoon just watching ...
... while in our new room (we had to change rooms and have gone from floor 1 to 4 so have to hike up the many stairs now). The lodge is full to overflowing and the weather this afternoon has been almost summerlike. Not kidding - must be about 18º outside and the snow is melting everywhere. Hottest day this season apparently. You walk through the snow and it is all deep and slushy. I am very glad that I bought my waterproof ...
... bullet back to Tokyo...yep I fell asleep again!!!! and spent the evening exploring the area above Tokyo station. Under the railway bridges they had turned the empty space into little tiny restaurants. v They wernt very touristy friendly with pictures so we deicded to avoid them and go for yet some more sushi yum!!!!!
It had been a long day so we were pretty exhausted after dinner and ready for a sleep before our last day sightseeing.
... thick socks and that was with the heater on. We went out to dinner at about 6pm and got lost finding the restaurant - this happened to us last time we were here as well. It's really difficult. This is a small village on the side of a hill with NO ENGLISH and no street lights. We did find the place we were going to eat at but it was closed. We wandered around for ages (45mins) ...
