... It was straight up hill and a beautiful hike. The castle is still occupied by the Prince so we weren't able to see the inside. The Prince is still the man who rules this tiny little country. There are 130 rooms in the castle, and one can just imagine how fabulous it is. We walked through the old section of Vaduz, Mitteldorf. It's a lovely little piece of quietness. We were surrounded by beautiful flowers ...

... some fries because they were totally unusual. They taste more like potato than our fries do. We were in desperate need of getting a load of washing so we we found a laundromat and did some laundry. Everyone we have come across has been very helpfull. We headed into the city centre after that and wen't shopping! We looked around for a good while in the shops. I walked into a clothes shop and Ruby got the huffs ...

The scenery so far in Austria has been nice, but not spectacular (here I go, comparing it to Switzerland again!) But my next town more than makes up for it. Auberbraz is halfway up up grassy hillside, and above it is not one, but two magnificent waterfalls, tumbling over the rocky precipice.

Time to do a little side trip. It woudn't be right to just snap a picture and move on... I'm going to climb up to the base of one of those waterfall.

Day 282 2 hrs, 5 kms In the morning I'm greeted by a parade of joggers and cyclist out getting their daily exercise. I follow the path for a ways, across the river and under the freeway... then suddenly get the feeling that I'm going in the ...

Day 281 6 hrs, 6 kms Day Totals: 16 hrs, 31 kms I must admit I'm kind of hoping there will be another hostel here in Bludenz. Not really looking forward to going back to camping. No luck though... back to the "real" thing. Bludenz does have a cozy little old town (although not much activity in the evening). I do find another nice doner shop where an Austrian printshop salesman is working out a deal with the Turkish owner. Again, nice to see ...
