Today we cruise into Corfu, Greece. It is a beautiful sight as we enter the harbour. Corfu town is shown as Kerkyra and is the capital of Corfu island. It is the third largest town on Corfu island. Corfu has over history been ruled by the Venetians, the French, and the British, and each occupier has left their own mark on the town. It is the only town in Greece with a cricket pitch! There is 3-4 thousand olive trees on the island and many are 400 years old. ...

We stopped at the port of Corfu. The only way to really get around the island is to take an excursion. At least it was for us. We were going to see a Monastery in the village of Palaiokastritsa and to the village of Gastouri to visit the 19th century Achilleion Palace.
The places were very beautiful and again the excursions didn't disappoint ...

... on board another boat for a week, but unfortunately that yacht (belonging to another cousin Sue), had problems, so we took Trish and Dave onto ours for the rest of their holiday. We took them to the same area of water by 'Marlin island', and anchored right by the Island. Trish and I swam around the Island. Later on Dave, Martin, Trish and I went on the island to explore and found there was a church, and 112 white crosses ...

Today was a totally down day for the BCW group and that was good because I woke up not feeling very good. Some of the groups went into Corfu Town but BCW just wanted a beach day but of course you can't always get what you want and what we got was a cloudy overcast day with a little bit of rain. Later we find out that it is Old Sinies, built high in the mountains to protect against pirate attack, but abandoned after locals went back to the coast when it was safe.
